Realize. Appreciate. Support.
Okay before I begin, let me place this disclaimer for this post and any conversations I may have with you involving myself not liking an artist or anything entertainment for that matter: Just because I do not like something, does not mean I am a hater.
With that being said, let me go into my new motto, "Realize. Appreciate. Support." The homie Jawar is a motivational speaker that speaks of branding yourself in all aspects of life. He has a motto that he lives and operates by, which is "Think. Plan. Execute." His motto basically says that whatever you want to do in life, you need to think about it in depth, create a plan that you will stick to, and execute everything that you've planned.
I was thinking of my branding and of course I want to brand myself with my government, Ngozi Isabelle Ahanotu, but I love who I have become as a writer and I am still learning. Miss Solow Dolow is a hard working entertainment journalist that tries her best to be on point when it comes to music period. She gives her all when discussing her passion for music and what artists represent society and their talent properly.
The motto that MSD and Ngozi Isabelle Ahanotu live and operate by is "Realize. Appreciate. Support." I have come to understand people can be very critical of music if they don't fully understand it's purpose. All music has a purpose and when one comes to realize that, they will be able to appreciate what it's purpose is, and then support it. Support can be negative or positive, but you know how they say all publicity is good publicity, well all support is good support. When someone is blasting you or your music, they are still writing or talking about you, forcing someone to know of you and see for themselves. Which leads me to my primary example: Wale.
Good 'ol Olubowale Folarin AKA Wale is a Nigerian-American rapper from DC. I first heard of Wale through RE, who posted his Nike Boots track. I thought it was aight. Nothing great but that's neither here or there. Wale was held close to my heart because he was Nigerian. I always love all African artists, no matter if they are good or bad. So I was all for Wale because he was Nigerian and I felt his purpose to me was to be a Nigerian in the rap world. I digress, I do not think Wale is that great. He's a great lyricist and I'm sure he's a good person, but I don't think he will be around too long(kinda like Drake won't be around long either). The reason I do like some of Wale's tracks, because he reminds me of Kanye West before 808's and Heartbreaks.
So I believe and REALIZE that Wale is here to serve as our 2009 Kanye West because we all see that Kanye West is so far gone. I APPRECIATE what he will bring to the industry and he has brought so far. I can't hate dude been working. I do SUPPORT him cause I post his songs in leiu of me not really liking him musically.
So there it is. Realize. Appreciate. Support. people =)
